Alone. Yes, that's the key word, the most awful word in the English tongue. Murder doesn't hold a candle to it and hell is only a poor synonym.{indepenent oc roleplay account. }
His hand immediately flew up to the bandage.
“Oh, uh-” Damien stuttered, trying to answer. “Um… s’not something I like to talk about. I’s kinda… a rough memory.”
The demon glanced away sullenly, knowing that if he took off the bandage, Baruch would be frightened by what lay underneath.
Right.
✉ - { Neo looked a little perplexed at that - they hadn’t expected him to refuse to explain. A large part of them expected everyone else to be exactly the same as they were with secrets - keep to themselves, but be honest when asked. }
✉ - { They hung back after that, checking Baruch’s reaction to their question. The atmosphere suggested that they’d done something wrong, but they couldn’t put their finger on what. }
Sorry?
He was almost tempted to let out the breath he’d been holding once the other demon lowered his threat, but he slowly approached Neo to take his hand. He was careful not to scratch him by accident, so it wouldn’t be seen as an attack.
“S’nice t’meet you too, Neo.” Damien did his best to nod politely.

✉ - { Neo’s attention turned to the claws that Damien curled around their hand - Damien didn’t have an apparent “human” form, like they did - and despite the presence of his horns and ears, Neo’s eyes are drawn to the wrap that passes over Damien’s face. }
✉ - { In a - maybe ill-advised - attempt at striking up a conversation, Neo gestured at the bandage. }
What’s wrong with your eye?
Damien mumbled a quick “h’llo” to Neo, still not looking up at him. He knew it was a rather uncouth greeting, but he was afraid to say much more. The demon hoped he wouldn’t slip something up- one wrong word or move and he could be gutted within seconds.
The tension in the air was so thick he could cut it with one slice of his claws, currently hidden and clasped behind his back. Damien hoped the same as Baruch- he’d like to have at least one demon that wasn’t out for his blood.
✉ - { Feeling, apparently, as if the meeting were incomplete, Neo extended a still rather human-looking hand for Damien to shake. It was a very human thing to do in their eyes, but they’d spent enough time on Earth for it to become second nature at this point. }
✉ - { Now that Neo really looked at Damien, they saw that he wasn’t threatening, really. At all - and they quickly came to the conclusion that if he did decide to attack, which was unlikely, Neo had a good chance of taking down the younger demon. }
✉ - { And when Baruch had described the other demon as being “kind of like a kitty”, he hadn’t been lying. There was certainly something very catlike about him, between his ears and his claws. }
It’s nice to meet you, Damien.
Baruch had been holding Neo’s hand, sort of leading his friend to where they were going to meet Damien. He also hadn’t wanted the pair of them to get lost!
“Yeah!” Baruch chirped in response to Neo’s question. The boy was very excited for his friends to meet. Granted, he was a bit nervous too. Neo seemed on edge, which was mainly why Baruch was nervous. Then there was the fact that both of his friends -who were demons- said that other demons weren’t so kind to them. What if they got into some sort of argument or fight? Surely they wouldn’t, but the nervousness was still there.The first thing he noticed was that the other demon was a lot taller than him. The second thing he noticed was that their teeth were bared in a threat display. Therefore, to combat the tension, Damien tried to look as submissive as possible- no eye contact; head down; ears back; tail pressing against the back of his leg.
“Uh- h-hey, Baruch,” Damien tried to say evenly, glancing up at him. He shuffled his paws nervously.

✉ - { Maybe Baruch was right. Maybe Damien did mean no harm - that realisation only lowered Neo’s anxious defences just a little bit. They watched quietly as Damien and Baruch greeted each other - it seemed to wear on their nervousness when the two made eye contact, but they didn’t say anything about it - wondering when to make a move. }
✉ - { When they eventually did speak, it was preceded by a tentative clearing of their throat. }
Uh…hello.
He could smell them before he saw them. The demon raised his head from his paws, sitting up and stretching before looking around. Damien could definitely smell Baruch coming his way, but then there was another scent that made him shiver a little.
Brimstone- the smell of a demon.
One of his ears went back and Damien timidly got up from his nest, walking out to greet Baruch.
✉ - { Neo wasn’t quite sure how Baruch had convinced them to visit the other demon. They had never really found the company of those of their kind enjoyable - but if Baruch wanted Neo to do something, they found it very hard to refuse. After all, they cared about very few other than the kid and if they got the chance to make him happy, they would take it without a second thought. }
✉ - { Yet, still, Neo was readied to defend as the two of them closed upon their agreed meeting place. Their tail swung low at their ankles - nerves mixed with the (probably unnecessary) anticipation of a territorial standoff weakened their human shield and brought to attention a curling pair of horns and a sweeping, narrow tail, too long for their height. }
…Baruch. Is that him?
✉ - { Of course, Neo already knew. They could sense him - and at his presence they hunched their shoulders and locked their teeth with a silent hiss. }
